My introduction to candle magic began with colorful prayer candles from botanicas in South Florida — often adorned with Catholic saints or symbolic illustrations with layered meaning. When I was studying in Central Florida, I began dressing these candles with oils, herbs, flowers, and powders to amplify their magic.
